I offer individual therapy for adolescents and adults and couples therapy for straight, gay, and bisexual couples. I do both short-term crisis-oriented work and longer term depth-oriented therapy. I value genuineness and mutuality in the therapy relationship and strongly encourage feedback about me and our work together so our collaboration can be as effective and meaningful as possible. I bring personal qualities of warmth, compassion and openness and a deep respect for each client’s unique experience. It is very important to me to understand my client’s social and cultural context, including race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity. I work to create a safe atmosphere to talk about issues of difference in our therapy relationship and in your experience in larger society. I appreciate the vulnerability people often experience when needing and asking for help and I am attuned to feelings of discomfort, anxiety and sometimes shame that can be a part of the therapy experience.
